What is the difference between paid membership and free membership?

Jewish Deaf Congress (JDC) is a community built on inclusion, belonging, and shared responsibility. Our bylaws affirm that all Jewish Deaf people are welcomed as full voting members of the organization. There is no cost to become a free member, and joining is simple.

Free members receive:

  • Full access to our digital resource library.
  • A subscription to our community newsletters with updates, stories, and upcoming opportunities
  • The ability to attend events and enroll in courses offered by JDC.

We also warmly welcome our allies — whether you are hearing or non-Jewish — to join as associate members. Associate members share in the same benefits as free members. The only difference is that associate members do not have voting rights in JDC elections and decision-making.

Why Become a Paid Member? #

While free membership ensures that no one is left out, JDC also invites community members to become paid members. Choosing a paid membership is a way to invest directly in the future of the Deaf Jewish community.

Your paid membership helps sustain our programs, support youth education, create more resources in ASL, and make sure that Jewish Deaf voices remain strong and visible.

In gratitude for this support, paid members receive exclusive benefits:

  • Discounts on all JDC events, courses, and programs.
  • Access to recorded courses that are available only in the paid member section of our website — watch them anytime, at your own pace!
  • The knowledge that you are directly strengthening JDC’s mission and ensuring its growth for future generations.

In short: Free membership makes sure everyone has a place at JDC. Paid membership helps JDC grow and thrive. Both options are available because we believe in accessibility, inclusion, and community care.
