Connect With Your Jewish Heritage Youth Program
At Jewish Deaf Congress (JDC), we believe that every child deserves meaningful access to Jewish learning. Our customized youth program offers engaging Jewish education in ASL, designed to meet the needs of children across a wide range of ages and backgrounds.
Tailored Jewish Learning in ASL
Classes are taught and supported by Deaf rabbis and educators who understand both the richness of Jewish tradition and the importance of accessible, visual communication. Each program is tailored to the child’s age, knowledge, and family preferences:
Flexible depth: Studies can be basic or intensive, depending on your family's goals.
Personalized focus: Families may request specific topics—from Torah stories and Jewish holidays to history, ethics, or culture.
Learning formats: Most classes are 1:1 sessions, ensuring individualized attention.
Group offerings: When multiple students of similar age and ability enroll, group learning may be offered to foster peer connections.
Affordable and Accessible
True to our mission, JDC is committed to making Jewish education accessible. Our programs are offered at affordable rates, with discounts available to ensure that finances are never a barrier. We believe strongly in nurturing Jewish identity in Deaf youth and supporting families who value Jewish education.
L’dor v’dor: From Generation to Generation
The Jewish phrase L’dor v’dor (לְדוֹר וָדוֹר) literally means “from generation to generation.” It reflects the sacred responsibility of Jews to pass on our heritage, knowledge, values, and traditions to the next generation.
A chain of tradition: L’dor v’dor reminds us that Jewish life is a continuous story. From Torah study to the Passover seder, we keep alive the spiritual teachings, cultural customs, and ancestral stories of our people.
Legacy of values: More than information, Jewish education transmits moral lessons—kindness, resilience, and righteousness—that children carry into their lives and communities.
Community responsibility: This phrase also speaks to the collective duty of the Jewish people. Together, we ensure that Deaf youth grow up with a strong Jewish foundation, empowered to take their place in the chain of tradition.
At JDC, we see youth education as more than a program—it is our sacred calling. By teaching in ASL and making classes accessible, we ensure that Deaf children can fully experience the richness of Jewish tradition and continue the unbroken chain of l’dor v’dor.
