Press Release January 11 2024: JDC Program Director Resigns

Sofia Seitchik has tendered her resignation as program director for the Jewish Deaf Congress, Inc. (JDC), effective January 31, 2024.

The JDC board credits Sofia with the expansion of JDC educational programming and outreach via social media over the past 3 years. Sofia has worked tirelessly to implement new ideas for special events and monthly educational programing with Jewish Deaf experts, established different platforms for social media presence, and created membership strategies, website upgrades, and valued community connections.

As program director, Sofia has emphasized the value of JDC to Jewish Deaf people, their families and the signing communities in USA and abroad.

Sofia leaves JDC in a very solid position, ready to move onto the next level to ensure its stability and viability with educational programing, outreach, and fundraising/grants. She will work with the board to continue programs this month and to ensure a seamless transition with new leadership.

The board extends its great gratitude to Sofia for her remarkable contributions and commitment to the JDC mission. We wish her every success in her future endeavors.

JDC is seeking a part-time paid program director to plan and implement educational and spiritual programs, outreach, and community support, in line with the JDC mission, vision and goals. Please contact Roz Rosen, Chair of JDC’s Search Committee at [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) for details about the position.

Jewish Deaf Congress, Inc. (JDC), established in 1956 is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing the light of Judaism to everyone using American Sign Language (ASL), strengthening the Jewish Deaf identity, and connecting with Jewish Deaf communities.

Sincerely,

Marla Berkowitz, Board Chair and the JDC Board
