Who were the Black Jews of the past? Where did they live? Here’s a fascinating presentation by Danyae Washington on this topic in celebration of Black History Month.

Danyae Washington is the Founder and CEO of Magnificent Journey for Deaf Africa-Israel Alliance. She is also a Board member of Jewish Deaf Congress and an Ambassador of the Institute for Black Solidarity with Israel (IBSI).

Danyae is currently working at the Texas School for the Deaf as an Access Graphic Job Coach and assistant teacher. She expects to achieve a bachelors degree in General Studies in 2024 from the Texas Women’s University. She is also enrolled in the Semikhah Rabbinic Program at the Hebrew Seminary. She has earned an associate of arts degree in secondary education and teaching 8-12. As a student teacher with the Navarro College, she taught biblical concepts to 5th graders. She currently holds a certificate as an educational aide from the state of Texas.

Danyae is involved as an ambassador with the Institute for Black Solidarity with Israel, dedicated to teaching young, influential Africans and Black Americans the history and importance of the Israel-Africa and Black-Jewish relationships. She is also a member of the National Black Deaf Advocates and involved with the Black Deaf Students Union (BDSU) @ Texas School for the Deaf. Danyae has given lectures and workshops on being a Jewish Black Deaf person.
