After a long flight, it’s time to breathe in the salty breeze of the beautiful Mediterranean Sea as we visit Caesarea, an ancient Roman port city, and learn more about Israel’s sea trade and the Roman influence on the land. In the evening, we will relax in our hotel in the Galilee area in the north.

Enjoy an energetic rafting experience on the Jordan River, be impressed by the story behind Gamla National Park, visit the fascinating Ein Keshatot synagogue, and view Syria and Lebanon from the top of Mt. Bental as you consider the geopolitics of the region.

Safed, one of Israel’s holiest cities, awaits you! We will tour the colorful alleyways and corridors that make up the old city and learn more about its vibrant history. After shopping and lunch, we will visit a local kibbutz and distillery where we’ll taste local liquors. In the evening, we will visit Tiberias’ waterfront promenade for dinner and a boat ride.

In the morning, we will visit Akko and learn about the Crusaders who conquered the land, ride a fun boat ride, and enjoy the market. After lunch, we will pass by Haifa and take pictures of the magnificent Baha’i Gardens. Afterward, Zichron Yaakov and its winery await us as we learn more about the aliyah movement that grew and expanded the Jewish community in the land.

On your own or join us to take a dip in the Mediterranean Sea! We leave around 10:30 am for Jerusalem. After lunch in the vibrant Machane Yehuda Market, we will check in the hotel, get dressed for Shabbat, and then tour the Old City, experience Kabbalat Shabbat at the Western Wall, and return to our hotel for an ASL Shabbat dinner.

Shabbat
Shabbat is all about relaxing and retrospection so this special day will be utilized to the max. With workshops led by Sofia, Marla, and Rabbi Yehoshua, in between a delicious Shabbat lunch and a walking tour of Jerusalem’s neighborhoods, you won’t forget this Shabbat! In the evening, we will have free time to shop and eat dessert on Ben Yehuda Street.

We will start the day with a visit to Yad Vashem, Israel’s solemn tribute to the 6 million who perished in the Holocaust, eat lunch at a unique restaurant called Shalva Cafe, and visit Mt Herzl, the national military cemetery.

Start the day with a tour of ancient Jerusalem, including the City of David water tunnel and the Western Wall tunnels. In the afternoon, tour Israel’s national treasures at the Israel Museum.

Today we will be starting very early! Leaving at 6 am, we will ascend Masada, an ancient desert fortress, and learn the chilling story behind the Jews’ last stand against the Romans. Afterward, we will rejuvenate in the springs of Ein Gedi, a nearby desert oasis. In the afternoon, we will float in the Dead Sea! In the evening, we will sleep in a Bedouin village and experience traditional desert hospitality.

In the morning, we will visit a small Bedouin town known for its many research projects into its signing population – Al Sayed. Who are the people who live there? Why does nearly everyone know sign language? In the afternoon, we will explore Hebron, one of the most historically-significant cities of the Jewish people, but also the site of great conflict between the local Arab population and its tiny Jewish community. How can we make peace?

Start the morning with an exploration of Tel Aviv’s ancient side – the port of Jaffa! In the afternoon, we will visit ANU, the Museum of the Jewish People, in northern Tel Aviv. End the day with a relaxing dinner by the Port of Tel Aviv.

With Shabbat soon arriving, check out the vibe at the Carmel Market in Tel Aviv and grab breakfast. Next door is the Nachlat Binyamin art and flea market. In the afternoon, explore the Yemenite Quarter and the stories of Tel Aviv’s earliest residents. In the evening, celebrate Shabbat dinner with the group.

With the trip almost to a close, it is time to reflect on all you have seen and experienced. Join a session led by Marla and Sofia, and practice some Hebrew with Rabbi Yehoshua in the world’s first “Hebrew City”! After Shabbat lunch, we will have a walking tour of the city. In the evening, we will have a panel discussion with several prominent Israeli deaf leaders.
We will visit the Israeli Deaf Association at the Helen Keller Club in Tel Aviv and meet the local deaf community. In the afternoon, we will take a final look at Tel Aviv with a bird’s eye view in a hot air balloon! In the evening, before we go to the airport, we will have a final group dinner together to celebrate our successful trip!
