Description of lecture and discussion: What is a Mikvah in Judaism? A mikvah is a pool of naturally occurring water used for Jewish ritual cleansing.

In this discussion, we will learn about the purpose of doing the Mikvah,  understand the importance of the Mikvah rituals, and also discover the secrets of the Mikvah in the Torah.

Bio: 

Larisa Aranbayeva, who grew up in a traditional Jewish household based on the Torah, Talmud, and Kabbalah teachings. She believes that education in ASL provides the Jewish Deaf community with access to connect with their version of Judaism. She is passionate about teaching Jewish rituals, including the Mikvah, a ritual of immersion in Judaism.

Larisa was born and raised in Tajikistan (a former Soviet republic). She immigrated to the United States as a religious refugee in 1992. Larisa graduated with her Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree from Gallaudet University. She is also a certified instructor of Judaism. Larisa currently lives in Maryland with her husband and two daughters.
